About VijaypurVijaypur is a tehsil town in the Sheopur district of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is located on the bank of Kaweri River and belongs to Chambal division. It is the major market and agricultural produce selling Mandi for nearby villages. Mustard, Gram, Wheat and Bajra are the major crops traded here. There are many mustard oil mills in the city and mustard oil is sent from here to various parts of the country. The town also serves as a gateway to the Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary. It is located around 140 KM from the district headquarters Sheopur. It is well connected by rail and road. There are regular buses from Morena, Shivpuri and Gwalior that are well connected by road. One can take a train to Vijaypur railway station or reach to nearest major Gwalior railway station which is around 90 KM from here.
History and Culture of VijaypurVijaypur was transferred to the newly created district of Sheopur in 1998 from Morena district. The total population if Vijaypur Tehsil was 187826 per census 2011. The city is quite hot in summer with maximum temperature touching 47 °C. The best time to visit here is between October - March. Hindi is the local language spoken here.

Chhim-chhima Hanuman Ji Temple - It is an ancient Hanuman temple, located around 9 KM from Vijaypur on the Vijaypur - Shivpuri road. There is a miraculous spring here that does not dry up ever. In the month of August - September every year, there is a one day fair organized here that is visited by thousands of devotees.
Siddh Baba Hill - It is a scenic place, located just 2 KM from Vijaypur on the Vijaypur - Sabalgarh road. An annual trade fair is organized here every year in the month of January - February that is visited by people from nearby states. There are many cultural activities in the fair like kavi sammelan, drama, folk songs etc. The initial part of the fair is dedicated to animal fair where different animals like cow, bull and camel are purchased and sols.
Vijaypur Fort - It is an ancient fort built in the 14th century AD by Vijay Singh, the king of Karauli. It is located on the bank of Kaweri River and is also known as Majhola Durg.
Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary - It is one of the popular tourist destinations located near to the city. One of the three gates to access the sanctuary, Pipalbawdi gate, is located near Agra, a village in Vijaypur. The sanctuary is situated in an isolated hill, sloping in all directions. The site is selected as second home to Gir lion and also for Cheetah reintroduction in India.
